Volunteer Insights hosts service-learning forums in Bend for faculty, students, community agencies, and community members to share service-learning stories and to build community awareness and support. Our next forum will be in May, 2009.

For our May, 2008 forum, students, teachers, and community agency partners from nine service-learning courses talked about how they connect classroom learning and community action. Presenters represented OSU/Cascades, COCC, Mountain View, J Bar J Learning Centers, REALMS, and Westside Village Magnet School. Forum participants noted the value of Volunteer Insights as a bridge between faculty and agency partners.

Our May, 2007 forum featured teachers, students, and community agency partners talking about service-learning courses at Mountain View High School, REALMS Middle School, J Bar J Learning Centers, Central Oregon Community College, and Oregon State University-Cascades Campus.

At our April, 2006 forum, a panel of service-learning practitioners described service-learning programs at Summit High School, Central Oregon Community College, and Cascade Middle School, as well as Camp Fire's Gift of Giving service-learning curriculum in the schools.

In June, 2005 our forum discussion brought together faculty and agency perspectives on the issues of preparation and reflection. We noted the value of engaging community agency partners as co-teachers and mentors for service-learning students.
